Many couples dream of having a child.  And no woman really thinks that she could possibly be one of the unfortunate women who have problems conceiving.  But how do you know if you are in fact having problems conceiving or nature is simply taking her time?

If after months (approx. 12 months) of unprotected sex, the you cannot become pregnant then this can be a warning sign for infertility.  According to one estimate, around 80% of  normal and healthy couples conceive after around 12 months of unprotected sex.

According to one source, every one couple out of six is confronted with problems in conceiving. Unlike the general misconception that women is mostly responsible for the couple’s inability to bear a child, reports show that the frequency of problems that cause infertility occur equally both in males and females. And there can be unexplained  and often undiscovered reasons why a couple fail to conceive.

One reliable source claims that male infertility is as frequent as that of females. Monitoring the exact reason of infertility can be a bit complicated with males when compared to that in the females.  However in all cases, the semen discharge is analyzed by the doctors and is checked for the number, viability, motility and shape of the sperms. Correct diagnosis determines how the case would be treated.

If a woman fails to conceive even once, then such a condition is called as primary infertility. If after bearing a child, a women face problems in conceiving then such a condition is termed as secondary infertility.
